My RAI experience on 06.10.2009

8.15am – Entered the Nuclear Dept in GH to a crowded room. Very different from my first experience,. Back then, there were less than 10 of us.

10.10am – I was called for blood pressure checkup and weight measurement. My number was 9.

11.30am – I entered to see the doc. I prefer the first doctor, she was older and seemed wiser than this young one. This one spoke bad English, I tried to be as nice as I could. Not exactly a good time to be sarcastic.

12.00pm – Ran down to pay my bill (RM100) and collected my 1 week supplies of carbimazole. The guy who readied the iodine solution came down to look for me, wearing the radiation protective suit (musta be heavy). It looks like those used when you have the x-ray taken.

12.10pm – Ran back up to the nuclear dept and was ushered into a small room. There was a built in metal cabinet at the side of the wall. The guy instructed me how to take the solution and quickly left the room. I slowly opened the metal cabinet, and saw a small bottle (couldn’t be more than 15ml) with a straw in a small metal holder. I hesitated for awhile, felt eyes looking at me from outside, said a quick prayer and sucked the solution. Tasted just like pipe water(did they give me the wrong liquid??) Put the bottle back in and hurriedly walk out of the place.

2 days later…..I haven’t feel anything yet from the treatment. I’m not sure if that is good or bad but I still have my hair loss problem. I checked my eyes in the mirror regularly . My biggest fear would be that it will get any worse. Sigh….
